The Primary School selected Conscious Discipline as its SEL program because it aligns with the organization's values and beliefs. Concepts are rooted in brain science and build skills for all children, including those who have experienced trauma. Like the school, Conscious Discipline offers a holistic approach. The Primary School wanted to not only shift the mindset of teachers and staff, but also educate parents and the larger community. Conscious Discipline supports students, teachers, staff and parents.
Currently in its second year of implementation, The Primary School has woven Conscious Discipline into its school culture and philosophy. Teachers are learning how to support their own well-being and how to respond to various behaviors from students. The school receives ongoing training and coaching from Conscious Discipline.

The Primary School's mission is to foster the well-being of each child as a foundation for academic and life success. The school provides a holistic system of education, family support services, and healthcare through both medical and mental health providers. Children are admitted to the program as infants and toddlers so staff can work with children and families before the child begins school.
