Ranking within the Forbes list is done in cooperation with the analytics and market research firm Statista. Statista surveyed more than 30,000 participants which included executive-level candidates / employees, human resources leaders and external recruiters (peers) who have worked with executive search firms during the past three years. Statista collected more than 17,000 nominations in order to produce the list of America's top firms.

Statista asked the 30,000+ survey participants to nominate up to 10 search firms filling positions with salaries above $100,000. External recruiters could not nominate themselves. Search firms were ranked according to those with the most favorable assessments and recommendations in the survey categories as follows:

- Quality of process (e.g. clear, reliable & timely)
- Quality of communication (e.g. personal, professional)
HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGEMENT

- Price-performance ratio of offered services
EXTERNAL RECRUITERS
External recruiters were asked to nominate a peer search firm based on the case that they would not be able to provide a service or industry-focus themselves.
Statista collected and validated the recommendations from the participants in all three surveys as well as the assessments from executive candidates and human resources management.
We are particularly proud of this ranking due to Forbes measuring listed firms with more objective elements such as service delivery, capabilities and performance metrics versus elements such as annual revenue or number of employees.
