With The Wake of Light, writer-director-producer Renji Philip has done the impossible. He's crafted a film about the timely topic of caring for an aging parent, while simultaneously interweaving themes of spiritual longing, overcoming fear and embracing hope, with gorgeous cinematography by Cinematographer Rainer Lipski and emotive piano music by lauded composer/performer Josh Kramer that makes the spirit soar. The character of Mary is both tender-hearted and sympathetic yet ultimately strong and quietly courageous.
