Soles4Souls and the NALA Providing Disaster Relief to West Virginia
Nashville, TN (PRWEB) July 14, 2016 -- Soles4Souls was founded as a disaster-relief organization after philanthropists and shoe executives provided footwear to those most impacted by the Indian Ocean tsunami in 2004 and Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Today, it still acts as a second-wave responder during times of disaster, such as the recent historic floods that struck West Virginia claiming the lives of 26 people, devastating numerous homes and displacing thousands of people.
“Droves of people were not only evacuated from their homes, but had to leave everything behind,” said Pattie Graben, of Soles4Souls. “Churches, non-profits and individuals have reached out requesting shoes and clothing to help West Virginia, and we strongly encourage everyone to help us provide these items for the thousands who will need them during this rebuilding process.”
Since its inception, Soles4Souls has collected and distributed more than 26 million pairs of shoes to those in need in 127 countries around the world and all 50 states in the U.S., largely due to donations from people who are passionate about helping others. Soles4Souls is currently calling on its partners, including individuals and businesses such as the NALA, which has assisted Soles4Souls in providing aid to West Virginia, to join them in restoring hope and health to the flood victims in one of two ways: donate shoes or clothing to provide relief to those in need or donate money to help pay for shipping and product distributions by visiting https://soles4souls.org/article/help-soles4souls-provide-shoes-clothing-west-virginia-flood-victims/.
The NALA partners with Soles4Souls via its Charity Branding Program, which enables small business owners to align with great causes and increase awareness. “Our grass roots Charity Branding Program also allows small business owners to become leaders in their communities who are passionate about making the world a better place,” said Jeffrey Rosenthal, Chairman and CEO of StarKart and the NALA. “Furthermore, with StarKart, sister company of the NALA, we offer our grocery cart advertisers the opportunity to ally with the NALA and its charity partnership with Soles4Souls to host shoe and/or clothing drives, such as the much-needed drive for the West Virginia flood victims.”
