The Alliance of AIDS Services - Carolina, Inc. Announces the Appointment of Melissa J. Haithcox-Dennis, Ph.D., as Executive Director of the Agency
RALEIGH, N.C. (PRWEB) April 03, 2019 -- The Alliance of AIDS Services – Carolina, Inc. (hereinafter Alliance) announces the appointment of Melissa J. Haithcox-Dennis, Ph.D. as the Executive Director of the agency. Dr. Haithcox-Dennis will begin her leadership of the Alliance on April 8, 2019.
Dr. Haithcox-Dennis brings to the Alliance a broad background in nonprofit management and community health with more than 10 years of leadership experience in HIV/AIDS prevention, care and treatment. Dr. Haithcox-Dennis holds a Ph.D. in Health Education from Southern Illinois University Carbondale, Carbondale, IL; a MA in Health Education from Montclair State University, Montclair, NJ; and a BS degree in Biology from North Carolina Central University, Durham, NC.

During Mr. Salgado’s three (3) years of leadership the Alliance expanded dramatically. In 2018 alone, the Alliance more than doubled HIV testing numbers to 2,986; conducted 1,477 Hepatitis and 2,619 Syphilis tests; and more than tripled the number of clients served through the food pantry, distributing 42.2 tons of food.
The Board is also grateful for the leadership of interim Executive Director, Lindsay Holland, who will return to her position of the Associate Director. Dr. Haithcox-Dennis will begin her role with an incredible staff, a strong board; and a keen focus on guiding the Alliance into the future. Current Board Chair, Rick Wellington, stated “Dr. Haithcox-Dennis has a passion for community work and has the public health credentials and connections to take us into the future. Her education and experience are perfectly aligned with our organizational needs.” Until the Cure, we are just getting started!
