Since the beginning of time, music and dance has influenced art and culture around the world. To celebrate this, Twin Cities Arthur Murray Dance Centers will sponsor AM Charity Fund’s first Theater Show, the Evolution of Dance, Saturday, March 30th at the Woman’s Club of Minneapolis.

In honor of Jesse E. Smith, AM CHARITY FUND contributes to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) from funds raised by its charity events

The AM Charity Fund has raised over $320,000 to date through their popular Dancing with the Twin Cities Celebrities Charity Ball. They are honored to continue the “dance for a cause” theme and partner with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Arthur Murray dancers, both amateurs and professionals will perform dances from the earliest of Ballroom dances through the present time. Attendees can expect performances that showcase the most popular styles of dance that swept the nation over the years. From the flapper era, disco fever, to more modern dance styles – the Arthur Murray Theater Show will demonstrate the entertaining evolution of dance.

The AM Charity Fund was founded in memory of Jesse E. Smith in 2010. It is a tribute to his legacy as a respected member of the Ballroom community. Jesse Smith, along with his wife Lynda Smith, were U.S. American Style Ballroom Champions receiving four U.S. titles. Jesse was sought after worldwide as a dance performer, adjudicator, choreographer and coach. Jesse died at the age of 37 in 2006 from Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Lynda Smith, and children Dayton and Elyse have been actively involved with the AM Charity Fund since its inception. The Smith family and the Twin Cities Arthur Murray Dance Centers are proud to sponsor AM Charity Fund’s Theater Show, The Evolution of Dance.

“AM Charity Fund’s donations have profoundly impacted LLS’s work in Hodgkin’s Lymphoma," said Executive Director Teri Cannon. “While Hodgkin Lymphoma is considered one of the most curable forms of cancer, there is still a 10+ percent chance patients will not survive five years after diagnosis. That is why funding HL research is important; Lynda and the Smith family know this importance well. Because of their investment, two new drugs have been approved to treat HL in the past two years. This is amazing progress and LLS could not be leaders in these advancements without relentless donors. Not only has their commitment grown over the last ten years, the fundraising events keep getting better and better. LLS thanks AM Charity Fund for keeping HL awareness high and the pressure on to find better treatments and a cure. Leave it to AM Charity Fund to put on an amazing show!”

Show details: Tickets are $50 and $40 of each ticket sold will be donated to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). The LLS mission is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease
and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. Each ticket includes a champagne toast and dessert reception during intermission! Open seating only. Tickets are not available at the door. Purchase tickets before March 28th.
