The Carneros Wine Alliance Elects New Board of Directors
Carneros, Napa and Sonoma, CA (PRWEB) January 11, 2016 -- The Carneros Wine Alliance, a non-profit association of wineries and grape-growers in the Carneros American Viticultural Area (AVA), announced today that a new board of directors has been elected. Crista Johnson of Schug Carneros Estate Winery has been named Chair of the board and Carla Bosco of Bouchaine Vineyards has been elected as Vice-Chair. TJ Evans of Domaine Carneros will continue to serve as Treasurer of the Carneros Wine Alliance, a position that he has held for the past year. Additional board members include Anne Moller-Racke of The Donum Estate, Alison Crowe of Garnet Vineyards, Jennifer LaRosa of Poseidon Vineyard, and Sam Jamison of Carneros Hills Winery.
“I am honored to be at the helm of this organization as we head into our thirty-first year as an alliance,” said Crista Johnson, the newly elected chair of the Carneros Wine Alliance. “We are excited by the growing opportunities for promoting our world-class district and the esteemed wines of this region.”
Crista Johnson has been on the Carneros Wine Alliance board since 2014. In addition to serving on the alliance board, Johnson runs marketing communications at Schug Carneros Estate Winery. She obtained her first wine industry job at Negociants USA in Napa, where she built up her experience and knowledge while handling sales and marketing for imported Australian and New Zealand wines. In 2011, Crista accepted a position in the marketing department at Schug Carneros Estate Winery. Working closely with the owner at a small family-owned winery, Crista has first-hand knowledge of the wine business.
Carla Bosco has served on the Carneros Wine Alliance board since 2014 and previously served as secretary of the alliance. Bosco credits her love of wine to her grandfather, who made wine in his Chicago basement, and to enjoying a Bordeaux from her birth year in her early twenties. Napa lured her away from a career in technology and she applied her marketing and sales experience to working first with micro-production wineries, then with Chimney Rock, Rutherford Hill, and Whitehall Lane Winery. Carla ran marketing and PR for the national non-profit Women For WineSense. Three years ago she joined Bouchaine Vineyards, where she utilizes her digital wine communications expertise and takes daily vineyard walks among Carneros’ rolling hills.
Carneros Wine Alliance Treasurer, TJ Evans, has been on the board since 2012 and previously served as chair of the board before becoming the alliance’s treasurer in 2015. Evans is the head of still wine production for Domaine Carneros, the preeminent sparkling wine and Pinot Noir producer founded by Champagne Taittinger. He completed his Master of Science degree at U.C. Davis and began his career at La Crema Winery in the Russian River Valley before moving on to work with Dry Creek Vineyards and Alderbrook Winery. Most recently, he spent three years developing Chardonnay and Pinot Noir vineyards at the southern tip of Chile’s wine growing region.
All board positions will be effective as of January 1, 2016 and all they will serve in their elected position for one year.
