The Creators of "The Lost Legends of REDWALL™" Video Game Series Announce New Games that Build on the Theme of the REDWALL™ World
Soma Games announces the launch this month of the following additional and final episodes within "The Lost Legends of REDWALL™" game: "Feasts and Friends," "The Wildcat Scroll"; and "A Passport to the Lost Legends of REDWALL™."
PORTLAND, Ore., Dec. 22, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Soma Games announces the upcoming launch of a series of mobile episodes within "The Lost Legends of REDWALL™" game. Previously launched within the game were an adventure online and console game "The Scout" and online game "Escape the Gloomer." This launch completes "The Lost Legends of REDWALL™" multi-episodic game, based on some of the characters of Brian Jacques' critically-acclaimed book series.
The 22-novel "REDWALL™" series has collectively sold more than 30 million copies worldwide since the original titular book was released in 1986, and more recently was named one of the Top 100 Fantasy Books of all Time by TIME Magazine. Soma's "The Lost Legends of REDWALL™" multi-episodic video game features and was inspired by some of the characters created by Brian Jacques in his best-selling series, and these new episodes seek to further dive into the fantasy world fans can explore within a mobile gaming experience.
"The mobile market is rapidly expanding, with no signs of slowing down," says Chris Skaggs, Game Director and Principal at Soma Games. "COVID-19 has left its mark on many business segments, including the gaming industry. However, what we're seeing is that video games have actually seen a monumental increase in activity, specifically mobile gaming. So, this is our opportunity to give something back to our fans while also allowing them to explore the Redwall world even deeper."
According to Newzoo, the gaming market is projected to grow to $180.1 billion by 2021, which represents a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of +10.3% between 2017 and 2021. In the next few years, mobile game revenue growth will continue to outpace the overall games market, growing to $106.4 billion in 2021. Mark Soderwall of Soma Games, whose resume boasts more than 43 game titles and 20 years of collective experience at Lucas Arts, EA and Atari, lends his talents to the forthcoming "Feasts and Friends." "We've really worked on formats that we feel the fans will enjoy, while staying true to the themes in the books. We feel these new episodes within 'The Lost Legends of REDWALL™' really capture the world and allowed us to expand on the beloved characters in this final chapter of the game," says Soderwall.
Also launching this month are episodes: "The Caverns of Kotir," "The Flowers of Icetor," and a 3-act episode called "The Wildcat Scroll." Completing "The Lost Legends of REDWALL™" game will be "A Passport to the Lost Legends of Redwall," which Skaggs describes as, "a charming tale of loss and love wrapped in a riddle-trivia tour of certain Redwall books."
"The Lost Legends of REDWALL™" is a collaboration between Redwall Abbey Company Ltd, Penguin Random House UK and Soma Games. "Together the parties nurtured a product that we believe captures the original heart of Brian Jacques' masterpiece," says Skaggs. "Between authentic musical scores, digitally sculpted art, an inspired narrative, and an original dynamic scent system, The Lost Legends of Redwall hopes to earn its place among the influential games of the new millennium."
