The Discovery House Honors Employees with Annual Awards Ceremony Recognizing Excellence and Leadership
VAN NUYS, California (PRWEB) January 27, 2015 -- Hosting their annual 2014 Employee Awards, The Discovery House drug and alcohol treatment center selected Joy Crownover, operations manager, as its “Employee of the Year.” The recognition is based on Crownover’s willingness to take initiative, her positive attitude and her embodiment of the organization’s core vision and mission. Crownover’s award, one of dozens made at a recent employee appreciation event, recognizes her leadership and passion for working in the field of drug and alcohol addiction treatment.
Some of the other top employee recognition awards were presented to Shalmar Neal, leadership; Geovany Chavez and Evangelina Madrid-Kerr, “rising stars”; and Sareen Hacopians, outstanding team building. Additional award categories included attendance, accountability, intake specialist, years of service, safety and “unsung hero.”
“The Discovery House is committed to providing quality service to each individual who wants an opportunity to recover from drug or alcohol addiction, and the way we provide this service is through a top-quality professional staff,” says Tom Whiting, founder of The Discovery House. “We value the contributions of everyone on our team, and we want to give particular recognition to those who go the extra mile and consistently take active roles in our mission. Without the leadership, camaraderie, integrity and devotion of our staff, we would not be able to offer the supportive, successful treatment that we do. When we all work together toward a common goal, we can achieve anything we set out to do.”
In addition to maintaining the highest professional standards, which have been recognized in accreditation by the Joint Commission, The Discovery House pays particular attention to community service and outreach. Community service in 2014 included sponsorship of youth baseball and softball in Reseda, support of Bertrand Elementary School’s reading program and technology upgrades, Taft Charter High School baseball and “Light Up the Night” in collaborations with Revitalize Reseda. Clients and staff participated in special events, including a Relay for Life to raise funds for fighting cancer, Victory for Victims to increase awareness of domestic violence, and participation in the Gay Pride Weekend. As a benefit to the professional community, The Discovery House sponsored continuing education seminars on substance abuse.
“We have no intention of slowing down in 2015,” Whiting said. “We will continue our dedication to helping the suffering addict by providing clients with a continuum of care. We will do everything possible to support out clients as they rebuild their lives. We also will participate in the life our community. We know that active involvement in service to others is an important part of individual recovery, but it also is vital for us to show that we are good neighbors and proud to be part of making Reseda a forward-thinking, caring community.”
