MILLVILLE, N.J. (PRWEB) March 27, 2019 -- The Espoma Company’s story began in 1929, when Herbert G. Sanders saw an opportunity to provide gardeners with an organic alternative to chemical fertilizers and pesticides that had revolutionized farming in the early 20th century.
Fast forward 90 years and the family owned company continues to manufacture products that are safe for people, pets and the planet. Today this includes a complete line of organic fertilizers, soils and controls for plants grown both indoors and out.
“Four generations of ownership have guided our mission,” said Jeremy Brunner, Espoma Vice President. “Develop the finest organic gardening products that work in harmony with nature, grow beautiful gardens, and make a greener world for the future.”
Espoma is not only committed to sustainability and innovation in its products, but also in its legacy. Their Millville, NJ facility is powered by 67,000 square feet of solar panels that save more than 1.6 million pounds of greenhouse gas emissions per year.
“In terms of reducing carbon dioxide,” says Brunner, “this is the equivalent of planting nearly 2 million trees.”
The company is continuing its tradition of industry leading innovation by utilizing a plant-based resin on many of its fertilizer bags for 2019. The new greener packaging will contain resin from sugarcane, a renewable and sustainable source of plastic. This new plant-based packaging will be the first green packaging for plant foods in the US.
“I’m proud of how far we have come,” said Brunner. “And we look forward to continued growth and innovation in the next 90 years.”
