“We’re proud to have surpassed our initial fundraising goal by over $5,000.00, and it touches us tremendously to know that the money has provided over 120,000 nutritious meals to our community,” said Jim Rex, President of the GHT Companies. “Our customers and manufacturing partners have overwhelmed us with their support over the past three months. We’re honored to be part of a community that’s passionate not just about nutrition at home but also for the people in San Diego who need it most.”
The GHT Companies began the initiative with Feeding San Diego, the leading local hunger-relief and food rescue organization, in May when it came to their attention that food insecurity was rising in their San Diego community. They designated special 25% off pricing for 13 popular immunity-boosting vitamins and nutraceutical products from their Vegan Life and Vibrant Nutraceuticals brands.
Each sale resulted in a one-dollar donation, and The GHT Companies put even larger donations in place for per-kilogram sales of raw ingredients used in the manufacturing of other nutraceutical products, specifically vegan vitamin D3 powder and oil.
“Before COVID-19, one in eight people in San Diego County faced hunger, including one in six children. Now the need for food assistance has increased by an estimated 50% as families struggle with unemployment and economic uncertainty,” said Gavon Morris, Chief Philanthropy Officer of Feeding San Diego. “We’re grateful to GHT for their commitment to health and nutrition during the COVID-19 crisis. Their corporate contributions are directly supporting our emergency hunger-relief efforts throughout our community.”
In addition to the check presentation, The GHT Companies would like to invite the media to tour the manufacturing facility.
