My family was evacuated in the middle of the night. The whole community was outside packing their cars. As we were driving away, hundreds and hundreds of first responders were running in. How can we ever say thank you? How can we help those who have lost everything?
VENTURA, Calif. (PRWEB) November 20, 2018
The recent Hill and Woolsey Fires in Southern California left a devastating path of destruction, burning numerous homes, buildings and more than 110,000 acres in Los Angeles and Ventura counties. In fact, the Woolsey Fire’s destructive toll has surpassed last year’s massive Thomas Fire, which was at the time the largest wildfire in modern California history.
In order to assist low-income individuals and families affected by the fires, The NALA, a boutique marketing agency, and STARKART, the leader in shopping cart advertising in North America, is donating to the United Way’s Southern California Disaster Relief Fund. The fund, created by United Way of Greater Los Angeles in partnership with United Way of Ventura County, will primarily provide longer-term support to help these people rebuild their lives. A percentage of the Fund will also support the American Red Cross® immediate response efforts.
“If you had not heard of Thousand Oaks, CA before November 7 you know it now. From the tragic shooting that killed 12 to the devastating fires that spread 150 square miles,” said Keith H Sonne, Executive Vice President of STARKART and the NALA. “My family was evacuated in the middle of the night. The last thing we did was load in our 2-year-old grandson who was evacuating for the second time that day, just as the power went out. The whole community was outside packing their cars. As we were driving away, hundreds and hundreds of first responders were running in. How can we ever say thank you? How can we help those who have lost everything?”
