The Nevermore Haunt Opens this October in Historic Old Town, Baltimore
Baltimore, MD (PRWEB) September 28, 2016 -- The Nevermore Haunt is a brand new haunted attraction opening this October in the east Baltimore neighborhood of Old Town. This late 19th century themed event combines professionally designed immersive sets and engaging characters to terrify and entertain guests as they navigate its twisting corridors.
“We believe that a proper scare is an art. It’s not about screaming in someone’s ear or repeated tiresome gags. There has to be a story with engaging characters that improvise and interact with guests. The event should keep you on your toes, make you scream, laugh, and then scream again. The goal is entertainment – dark, macabre, and horrific, but entertaining above all else,” explains Joe Hudson, haunt owner.
The haunt’s historic location in Old Town Mall was initially built in the 19th century by Isaac Benesch, a jewish immigrant to Baltimore, as a home for his growing furniture business. It eventually grew to become one of east Baltimore’s earliest and most prominent department stores until its decline and eventual acquisition by the Kaufman’s department store chain in the mid-20th century. Kaufman’s closed in the 1990’s and the property sat vacant for decades before it was acquired by Engineered Fear Productions in 2014 to be transformed into The Nevermore Haunt.
A shuttle bus will operate between the event’s location in Old Town and Fells Point, connecting the event with all of Fells Point’s popular dining and nightlife venues.
“With our shuttle bus we hope that our visitors will be able to make us a convenient part an October night out on the town,” said Thomas Wingate, Director of Operations. “Folks can grab dinner down in Fells, take the shuttle to the haunt and return to Fells afterwards for a drink.”
