The Peace Box -- Launch of New Anti-Racism Subscription Box
First-of-its-kind subscription box brings 24 months of anti-racist education curated for families to learn, grow and act together.
ATLANTA, Oct. 8, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The Peace Box will launch its first edition on October 8th, 2020. This first-of-its-kind subscription box brings 24 months of anti-racist education curated for families to learn, grow and act together.
Each box has a theme, with handcrafted lessons and activities for parents, teens and kids to do together. The monthly offering includes books, video lessons, discussion guides, activities and games, and other items, most of which are sourced from Black-owned businesses. Through each box, we strive to create change by educating and equipping families to take action in the fight against racism. The accompanying Peace Box Mobile App, brings subscribers together in an online community and makes available dynamic lessons, resources, stories, news feeds, community engagement, live Q&A sessions, and much more!
At Peace Box we believe that justice and peace go hand in hand. Both education and action are imperative for the peace that we all want to see. The Peace Box equips families to be change agents, together, not only in their home and in their communities but around the world.
"When our country fell apart a few months ago, understandably so, in regards to race relations and injustice, we came up with the idea to create a non-performative, non-money grab, anti-racism project to create positive change within the fight," says Kelly Pittman, co-creator of The Peace Box. "I was thrilled to take the lead on this project with one condition; that we give this platform to a subject matter expert who is a strong, smart, young black woman."
Nysi Kilgore, at 22 already a published author and founder of a charitable organization, agreed to join Kelly in creating The Peace Box. "Since that day, we have poured our hearts into the Peace Box and our deepest desire is that it creates positive change and growth first within families, then within our communities and ultimately all across our country, says Nysi. "We all need hope right now and The Peace Box delivers hope in a box to our subscribers every single month. Each box contains some education but more importantly some doable action steps. The Peace Box team has worked diligently to source as many products from black owned businesses as possible within each box. We also donate the proceeds from each box sale to organizations already on the ground, doing the wonderful work to improve black and brown communities. Therefore, subscribing to The Peace box creates immediate change within the fight against racism. We have created several ways to bring all the families who subscribe to the box into a community because we know we are better together."
