"Obedience is woman's duty on earth. Harsh suffering is her heavy fate." - Friedrich von Schiller. Thus begins the novel, The Promise, by Christian author, Dan Lewis. This quote sums up a world view which Lewis says has affected the way we have perceived the role of women. As a young man, Lewis saw his father abusing his mother in the home. When the police would arrive, they would tell the uncontrollable father to "take a walk or sleep it off." Enduring similar episodes throughout his childhood gave Lewis his sensitivity to the plight of many women. His passion to reveal what God the Father says to his precious daughters is the substance of Lewis' book as well as his speaking engagements which he delivers throughout the United States.
Not only has the world devalued women throughout history, but the church has not stepped up to right the wrong. Mr. Lewis says that one needs only to look at dismissive attitudes, unequal pay, and the crime of sex trafficking to see the widespread, ungodly treatment of women. Lewis wants to reinforce the message that women are treasured by their heavenly Father and that Jesus treated women with the utmost respect while he ministered on the earth. It is the hope of the author to restore those he refers to as spiritual little sisters, as they see themselves in the pure truth of God's mirror, the Word of God.
Dan Lewis is available to speak at churches, Bible Studies, or special events. His passion for uplifting women shines through in his personal and powerful talks to people of all ages, both male and female.
