We are excited to be highlighting ‘Know Your Customer’ solutions and best-practices at the KYC Summit, and thrilled we will be meeting live at SIPNOC 2023, where we will provide broad coverage of the requirements, challenges and the opportunities presented by the Call Authentication community.
NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. (PRWEB) March 07, 2023
The SIP Forum proudly announced today its event lineup for 2023, which includes a new virtual KYC Summit, a special webinar series focused on ‘Know Your Customer’ strategies, solutions and best-practices, to be held the week of June 12, 2023, and SIPNOC 2023, a three-day educational conference to be held in Herndon, VA on September 12-14, 2023 at the Hilton Washington Dulles Hotel.
SIPNOC 2023 will return to live, in-person proceedings, and continue and expand its focus on the broad Call Authentication ecosystem, including STIR/SHAKEN, Call Analytics and Vetting, Branded Calling and Rich Call Data, International Traceback and STIR/SHAKEN adoption, KYC initiatives, Enterprise requirements and challenges, new SMS Text Authentication initiatives, associated Federal and State regulatory and enforcement actions, and more.
Developed jointly by the SIP Forum and ATIS (the Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solutions) to efficiently implement the Internet Engineering Task Force’s (IETF) STIR (for Secure Telephony Identity Revisited) standard, SHAKEN (for Signature-based Handling of Asserted information using toKENs) defines a mechanism to verify the calling number and specifies how it will be transported across communications networks.
Together, the STIR/SHAKEN Call Authentication Framework offers a practical mechanism to provide verified information about the calling party as well as the origin of the call — what is known as “attestation” — for the first time in the network. Giving service providers the tools needed to sign and verify calling numbers makes it possible for businesses and consumers to know, before answering, that the calls they receive are from legitimate parties.
KYC Summit and SIPNOC 2023 attendees will include telecommunications providers, major backbone operators, interconnect and wholesale solution providers, ISPs, cable operators, wireless network operators and large enterprises, as well as industry stakeholders in the Robocall/Robotext and Caller ID Spoofing elimination/mitigation ecosystem, including governmental regulators and agencies, equipment manufacturers, enterprises, government agencies, contact centers, application providers and data analytics firms.
“The SIP Forum is excited to be highlighting ‘Know Your Customer’ strategies, solutions, and best-practices during our new virtual KYC Summit, as KYC has emerged as an essential part of the Call Authentication ecosystem and is vital to the formulation of a comprehensive solution to eliminating illegal Robocall fraud and spam,” said Marc Robins, SIP Forum President and Managing Director, and SIPNOC and KYC Summit Program Chair.
“During the pandemic, while we successfully shifted to producing fully virtual events, our community had extremely limited options for coming together to meet and network, discuss and share ideas – and we are thrilled that we will once again be meeting live and in-person in September at SIPNOC 2023, where we will provide broad coverage of the requirements, challenges and the opportunities presented by the Call Authentication community,” added Robins. “We created SIPNOC to provide a meeting place for the international community of communications engineers and network operations professionals who deal with the real-world intricacies of providing communications services on a day-to-day basis, and with SIPNOC 2023 we plan to continue this important tradition.”
“The scourge of robocalls and robotext continues. Though progress has been made, there is still much work to be done. We are delighted that we can return to in-person events post-pandemic while having some virtual events on an as-needed basis. We certainly want to hear from members of the Call Authentication community and enterprises ASAP on potential topics to cover. This is a very dynamic industry. The technical and regulatory landscape is changing in the United States, Canada and Internationally on a monthly basis,” said Richard Shockey, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the SIP Forum.
