NEW YORK and AMSTERDAM, Oct. 15, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- NYC's One Bag Tag and Netherlands-based BAGTAG officially announced today a groundbreaking cooperation, propelling the airline Electronic Baggage Tag (EBT) industry to soaring new heights.
Ironically though, the two companies were once direct competitors.
Since 2014, BAGTAG has led the way in digital baggage tag software and hardware, which is today used by multiple major airlines across the world.
Simultaneously, One Bag Tag has focused on affordable yet pioneering hardware, creating the world's first battery-free electronic baggage tag. The company is part of a family of premium air travel brands awarded "#1 in Travel" by Inc. 500.
"For years now, passengers of several airlines worldwide have been enjoying the great benefits of electronic bag tags. The concept is now rapidly maturing, with many new airlines planning to launch EBT capabilities by the end of 2019," notes Zach Bielak, CTO of One Bag Tag.
EBTs boast many benefits over traditional paper tags: they allow passengers to escape long check-in lines, avoid wasteful paper tags, and arrive at their gates faster.
However, without a centralized solution to standardize and manage EBTs, many airlines across the world have been hesitant to adopt them.
Today's new partnership solves this problem, and ushers in a new era for air travel.
With One Bag Tag and BAGTAG signing into cooperation, the world's first multi-solution EBT platform has become a reality. The platform, called BAGTAG BRIDGE, allows passengers to choose between different electronic baggage tags and use them across various airlines around the globe—an unprecedented concept in the air travel industry.
The platform, developed and managed by BAGTAG, is specifically designed to easily and securely integrate with airlines' existing systems. Airlines that connect to BAGTAG BRIDGE grant their passengers the flexibility to choose the EBT that fits their needs best, and then use that EBT on any airline in the BRIDGE network.
"Looking forward, passengers must be able to use the EBT of their choice across the world and on different airlines. The only way to achieve this is to cooperate with both airlines and EBT manufacturers. We are proud to introduce BAGTAG BRIDGE with One Bag Tag as our inaugural partner," states Jasper Quak, Managing Director of BAGTAG.
BAGTAG BRIDGE will initially host One Bag tag's battery-free tag, as well as BAGTAG's own EBT device. Both products attach to any suitcase and sync with a smartphone to digitally display the next trip's barcode. They also feature integrated RFID chips for enhanced tracking.
"Imagine never having to stand in line to check your bag again, at any airport, any airline, worldwide," proposes Eli Ostreicher, CEO of One Bag Tag.
"That future is closer now than ever before."
