The Spectrum Circle Awards Luncheon Celebrates Women Supporting Women
Washington, DC (PRWEB) March 25, 2016 -- The inaugural The Spectrum Circle Award luncheon on March 18, was organized by this innovative organization, envisioned by marketing expert Karen Maria Alston, founder of the Alston Marketing Group in Washington, DC. This first Spectrum Circle Award luncheon honors women for Innovation in Technology, Business and Media.
“The Spectrum Circle Awards recognize local exceptional women who make tremendous contributions to our community and impact opportunities for the advancement of other women by sharing their stories of success” said Karen Maria Alston, Founder of The Spectrum Circle. This year The Spectrum Circle Award for Innovation in Technology went to Shannon V. Turner. The Spectrum Circle Award for Innovation in Business winner was Charlotte Walls. For Innovation in Media, The Spectrum Circle Award was given to Traci Otey Blunt, a veteran Marketing, communications, media, political, and public affairs specialist. This year, there was an additional award: The Millennial on the Rise Awardee for which the committee is honoring Michiel Perry.
News Anchor Shawn Yancy (Fox 5 in Washington, DC) was the confirmed EMCEE highlighting the significance of this event. With over 150 influential and innovative people from business, technology, media, policy, government, finance and other fields in Washington, DC attended the event in the stylish Longview Gallery in downtown Washington, DC, which promised to be a groundbreaking event.
In attendance and a member of the hostess circle was longstanding contributor and supporter of initiatives that empower women, Dr. Natalie Forest. “I am honored to be able to contribute to the growth and success of The Spectrum Circle and this first Award luncheon because it is so important for women to come together and support one-another; it is something that many women are finally learning. I grew up as a true collaborator and have found women who believe the same and engage through service via The Women of Global Change and my network, yet it is still rare. Therefore, being a part of this effort in my own backyard has special meaning to me, not to mention it occurs during Women’s History Month,” comments Dr. Natalie when asked why she chose to be involved. The Spectrum Circle and its focus are close to Natalie Forest’s heart as she is known to actively engage with efforts that empower and support women and all those who are ready to Revolutionize their lives. Being of service comes naturally to Dr. Natalie as she prepared for her book launch “Revolutionize Your Life – Your Way” and continues to help create more empowering opportunities for women with Shellie Hunt through The Women of Global Change and by speaking at various events this spring, such as her presentation at PeriCON in April in Atlanta and the ALL Women Economic Forum in May in New Delhi, India.
