The TASC Group Announces Recipient of Its First Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Scholarship at The City College of New York
The TASC Group has announced the inaugural recipient of its diversity, equity and inclusion scholarship with The City College of New York (CCNY).
NEW YORK, Feb. 23, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- In an effort to help foster diversity and inclusion within the public relations industry, The TASC Group launched a scholarship program for talented and gifted multicultural students in the public relations and advertising program at CCNY in early December and is proud to announce the first recipient, Veronica Vaccaro.
As the recipient of this scholarship, Veronica will receive $2,500 toward tuition fees along with a paid semester-long internship at The TASC Group that includes professional development and mentoring by TASC employees.
"I believe nonprofits are the trailblazers when it comes to reform and enacting positive change," stated Veronica. "I know at The TASC Group I will be able to remain true to my values by helping to drive their clients' amazing work, and I can't wait to get started."
Veronica Vaccaro is currently earning a BA in Communications and Sociology at The City College of New York, CUNY and is dedicated to empowering social movements through strategic communications. Veronica volunteers at her local church and takes EMT classes to assist the growing demand for healthcare workers. She also serves as a personal care provider at The Center for Discovery.
"We are thrilled to announce Veronica as the recipient of The TASC Group's Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Scholarship at CCNY," said Rida Bint Fozi, managing director of The TASC Group. "We received so many incredible applicants for the scholarship and were deeply impressed with Veronica's dedication to serving her community and her keen grasp on the intersection of public relations and advocacy. We are excited to welcome Veronica to our team this summer and look forward to our continued partnership with CCNY to support and promote diversity and inclusion in the public relations industry."
Inspired by their ongoing work with social justice and nonprofit clients such as The Trayvon Martin Foundation, The Eagle Academy Foundation and The Gathering for Justice, TASC worked with CCNY to develop a program that would award exceptional students with career growth opportunities and real-world public relations experience.
"I applaud The TASC Group for addressing the urgent need to further diversify our industry," said Lynne Scott Jackson, distinguished lecturer & deputy chair of media & communications at CCNY and founder, president and CEO of Millynneum Incorporated. "Veronica is among our brightest Ad/PR All Stars, and her internship marks the beginning of a fruitful and lasting partnership between the agency and CCNY."
The internship will begin Summer 2021 and run through until the fall.
