ST. LOUIS, Sept. 25, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The Vault Luxury Resale, one of the country's finest upscale resale boutiques, has partnered with Operation Food Search, a St. Louis-based non-profit organization dedicated to ending hunger in the greater St. Louis metropolitan area, to support the organization's semi-annual Handbags to End Hunger Luncheon. This year, the luncheon will be held on Saturday, October 20 from 10:30-1:30 am at the Clayton Plaza Hotel located at 7750 Carondelet Avenue in Clayton. Sue McCarthy, owner of The Vault Luxury Resale and star of the Style Network's Resale Royalty, will be the guest speaker at the luncheon. All proceeds will go to fund the organization's Childhood Hunger Relief and After-School Meal Programs.
The Vault Luxury Resale will be selling $100 golden tickets to be entered into a raffle to win a Chanel Lambskin Quilted Double Flap Handbag and hopes to raise $100,000 through this effort. In addition, the store will be donating an additional 25 luxury handbags to be auctioned off at the event. Although the store has donated handbags for the luncheon before, this marks the first year for a separate—and additional—golden ticket fundraising opportunity.
"We are thrilled that The Vault Luxury Resale has decided to partner with Operation Food Search in this momentous way in 2018," said Sunny Schaefer, Executive Director of Operation Food Search. "With their access to luxury items for auction, and their extensive list of charitable St. Louisans, it just makes sense. I'm excited to see how this partnership will evolve."
For Sue McCarthy, her passion for helping was rooted in her humble beginnings—when she was on the receiving end of others' kindnesses. For much of her childhood, McCarthy was hungry and homeless, as detailed in her just-released memoir, Good, Better, Best. Now, she says, it is her turn to give back.
"Every time Sunny [Schaefer] and I connect, I'm astounded by our conversation, by the number of hungry children and families in our community. Food is a basic need, one everyone should have fulfilled," said McCarthy. "The Vault Luxury Resale wants to do our part to make that a reality."
Charitable endeavors are nothing new for the store. Each year, The Vault Luxury Resale gives almost $100,000 to various St. Louis-based charities, foundations, and causes. They have supported Operation Food Search, which feeds 200,000 people every month in the St. Louis community, for several years.
The Handbags to End Hunger Event anticipates 300-400 attendees. The event is open to the public; for tickets, please visit http://handbags.operationfoodsearch.org.
