MIDDLEFIELD, Conn., July 31, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The World's Largest Golf Outing™ (WLGO) will be held Monday, August 6 at Lyman Orchards Golf Club in Middlefield, CT. The event is happening simultaneously at more than 120 golf courses in 28 states throughout the country.
This year proceeds from WLGO will benefit the Fisher House Foundation, a non-profit organization that creates a network of "comfort homes" where military and veterans' families can stay at no cost while a loved one receives treatment. Since its inception, the program has saved military and veterans' families some $320 million in out of pocket costs for lodging and transportation. A Fisher House home opened in West Haven, Conn. in 2017 with 16 bedroom suites to accommodate guests.
The WLGO is the single largest charitable golf event held on one day, which makes a significant impact in the lives of those who need it most: veterans and their communities throughout the country. WLGO is more than just a great day of golf; it's fun that -- through participation and team fundraising -- makes an actual difference in the lives of injured service men and women.
Lyman Orchards Golf Club's WLGO event will be held in an 18-hole, four-person team scramble format. The registration fee includes a $10 per player donation, green fee, shared cart, warm-up bucket, BBQ and beer at the turn, local prizes and awards ceremony following play. Event pricing as follows:
Jones/Player Courses: 9 a.m. shotgun, $300 foursome, $150 twosome, $75 single.
Jones Course: 5 p.m. 9-Hole shotgun, $180 foursome, $90 twosome, $45 single.
Lyman Orchards Golf Club has raised more than $123,000 in the last six years participating in the WLGO. Nationally, the WLGO has raised more than $3.7 million for veterans.
All golfers will receive a Lyman Orchards' six-inch, Red, White and Blue Pie. There will also be an optional BBQ dinner served after the evening round.
Family, friends and/or colleagues can make a difference, and done golfers who earned WLGO prizes can proudly display their support for this great charity (all teams can earn swag at the conclusion of the WLGO based on their final fundraising total).
