New A21 option delivers 100W-equivalent brightness, tunable white and color lighting, with Zigbee mesh repeating for larger living spaces, garages, and workshops
SAN JOSE, Calif., Sept. 25, 2026 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- THIRDREALITY today announced the Zigbee Smart Color Bulb ZL2, a new A21 addition to its Zigbee smart lighting lineup designed for spaces where higher light output is preferred.
Delivering up to 1600 lumens of brightness, equivalent to a traditional 100W bulb, the ZL2 provides a higher-output lighting option for garages, workshops, high-ceiling rooms, and larger living spaces. Its A21 form factor expands THIRDREALITY's Zigbee lighting lineup with an option for users who need more light from a single bulb.
While the hardware is designed for higher light output, the ZL2 retains the familiar smart lighting experience of THIRDREALITY's Zigbee color bulbs, including 2700K-6500K tunable white, millions of colors, and 1%-100% dimming. Users can adjust lighting for different activities throughout the day, from bright task lighting to warmer ambient illumination.
Lighting and Zigbee Connectivity in One Device
Built on Zigbee 3.0, the ZL2 can also function as a Zigbee repeater, helping extend mesh coverage for compatible Zigbee devices. Because the bulb is continuously powered when its wall switch remains on, it can provide both lighting and Zigbee mesh support without requiring a separate battery-powered repeater. This can be particularly useful in garages, workshops, larger rooms, or other areas farther from the Zigbee hub.
The ZL2 works with a range of Zigbee smart home platforms, including compatible Amazon Echo and eero devices, SmartThings, Aeotec, Hubitat, Home Assistant through ZHA and Zigbee2MQTT, and the THIRDREALITY Hub Gen2 Plus.
With the optional THIRDREALITY Smart Bridge MZ1, users can also bring supported Zigbee devices into additional smart home ecosystems, including Apple Home and Google Home. OTA firmware updates help keep the bulb current over time.
