THIRDREALITY has introduced the Smart Water Leak Sensor WL2, a new Zigbee-based water leak sensor designed to give smart home users another practical option for monitoring water-related risks at home.
SAN JOSE, Calif., April 2, 2026 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Rather than replacing existing products, WL2 is intended to expand the choices available within THIRDREALITY's water leak sensor lineup, offering a different balance of features for users with different smart home preferences and usage habits.
Built for common household risk areas such as under sinks, near washing machines, behind toilets, and around water heaters, WL2 is designed to help users detect both everyday drips and larger leaks in a compact, easy-to-maintain form.
Unlike THIRDREALITY's previous Zigbee water leak sensor, which included a built-in siren, WL2 takes a different approach. It is designed for users who prefer to rely on smart home notifications, app alerts, and automations through their Zigbee platform rather than an onboard audible alarm.
As a Zigbee smart sensor, WL2 is designed for users who want leak detection to work as part of a broader smart home setup. Designed to work with standard Zigbee 3.0 hubs, WL2 can be integrated into platforms such as SmartThings, Home Assistant (ZHA / Zigbee2MQTT), Homey, and select Echo devices with built-in Zigbee support.
WL2 also adopts an integrated drip and leak detection design, allowing it to monitor different types of water issues without relying on additional detection components. This supports more flexible placement in areas where both slow drips and standing water may occur.
Compared with earlier designs, WL2 also offers enhanced waterproof performance, helping it better withstand humid or splash-prone environments such as kitchens, bathrooms, laundry rooms, and basements.
To improve long-term usability, WL2 also features a screw-free snap-open battery compartment, making battery replacement faster and more convenient for everyday users.
