Thirteen Year Old Author Writes a Study Guide for Kids
Germantown, MD (PRWEB) July 16, 2014 -- Young, new author Nina Todd wrote and published her first book this year. "A Kid’s Guide To Getting Accepted Into Magnet Middle Schools" was released in early June and the accompanying workbook, in early July. They can be purchased on the Amazon Kindle platform.
Her book details Todd’s tips for preparing for each section of entrance tests similar to the one she took. The guide explains how she handled the Raven’s Progressive Matrices, reading comprehension, mathematics and essay sections. It includes sample essays, sample reading comprehension questions and sample Raven’s Progressive Matrices problems. The accompanying workbook features hundreds of vocabulary words, a reading list, essay prompts, sample math problems and more.
Four years ago, in 2010, Todd took her own GT test in Montgomery County, Maryland. She had a difficult time finding helpful information to guide her preparation. Going into high school, Todd felt a need to reach back in whatever way she could. As Todd finished eighth grade, she wrote and published her book to help kids who are about to undergo the same process.
“I just wanted to write something that would help kids like me. I wanted to give them what I didn’t have when I prepared for my own test, a blueprint to success. In Montgomery County, there are educators you can hire who will help you study. However, these services are very expensive and very exclusive. I wrote this book to help kids who can’t afford those types of tutoring, for kids who want to succeed but don't have the means,” said Todd.
Her next book, "A Kids Guide to Getting Accepted into Magnet High Schools," is in the works.
