May 3, 2021 Deadline to File Claims Against Skanska
In December 2020, Skanska filed a limitation of liability action ("LLA") asking a Federal Court to absolve them from any liability related to the bridge outage. In the same filing, Skanska also seeks to limit their liability to the aggregate value of several work platforms that impacted the bridge. The filing triggered a limitations period within which business owners and individuals must file a claim against Skanska. That deadline is May 3, 2021.
The attorneys of Aylstock, Witkin, Kreis & Overholtz will provide an overview of the Skanska claims process and deadline, what the LLA means for citizens, and what the communities of Pensacola, Pensacola Beach, and Gulf Breeze can do outside of the legal process to hold Skanska accountable. On Monday, a group of AWKO clients, including 50 businesses and several hundred individuals, signed a letter sent to 27 local, state, and federal officials representing the area, requesting their assistance in holding Skanska accountable for economic losses arising from the bridge outage. The letter invited the officials to attend the community forums.
