Threat Sketch Releases Cybersecurity Budgeting Tool for Nonprofits

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C., Aug. 14, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Threat Sketch, a leading cybersecurity company, announces the launch of the Cybersecurity Budgeting Tool for Nonprofits, the latest addition to its nonprofit cybersecurity tool kit. The budget tool is designed specifically for nonprofit organizations to help leadership make decisions on allocating funds for cybersecurity measures.
The budgeting tool is simple and easy to use. It consists of a short, secure survey through which the organization provides information to Threat Sketch. That information is then analyzed and presented to leadership to serve as a guide in creating a cybersecurity budget. The tool takes into account risk factors specific for nonprofit organizations and provides guidelines that cover both prevention and preparedness.
"Having a goal of being completely safe from cyber attacks is not financially viable, especially for resource-constrained nonprofits," said Rob Arnold, founder and CEO of Threat Sketch. "There must be a balance between preventing attacks and preparing for the attacks that can materialize despite best efforts. As part of the planning process, it is important to pay close attention to how your organization will address both, and this budgeting tool helps give nonprofit organizations the information they need to start the process of allocating dollars between them."
The Cybersecurity Budgeting Tool is part of The Nonprofit Cybersecurity Toolkit Threat Sketch is creating with funding and support provided by the U. S. Department of Homeland Security, National Protection and Programs Directorate, Office of Infrastructure Protection, through the National Infrastructure Protection Program Security & Resilience Challenge, which is implemented by The National Institute For Hometown Security (NIHS). It serves as a companion to the Nonprofit Guide to Cybersecurity, published in June 2018, which provides an overview of the cyber risk landscape as it pertains to nonprofits, and then gives specific steps to help prevent and prepare for a cyber attack. The guide outlines the role of executive in managing cyber risk, how to assemble a team, and how to make organizations more resilient by balancing preparedness and prevention in their approach.
"This budgeting tool really compliments the Nonprofit Executive's Guide to Cyber Risk Management that we released earlier this year," Arnold said. "I'm excited to be working on this project and bringing our cybersecurity expertise to a sector that experiences a gap in information on cybersecurity prevention and preparedness."
