Three Women-Owned Companies Given Cash Awards at Annual Event
The Women's Business Council - Southwest (WBCS) is proud to announce the three awardees for this year's Lillie Knox Investment Awards; Darlene Templeton, Founder and CEO of Templeton and Associates, Molly Sandlin, President and Founder of CAET Project Management Consultants, and Indu Sanka, CEO of FIRST SIGNS Graphic Solutions.
IRVING, Texas, Sept. 16, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The Women's Business Council – Southwest (WBCS) is proud to announce the three awardees for this year's Lillie Knox Investment Awards; Darlene Templeton, Founder and CEO of Templeton and Associates, Molly Sandlin, President and Founder of CAET Project Management Consultants, and Indu Sanka, CEO of FIRST SIGNS Graphic Solutions.
"These three companies really stood out as companies that could utilize these funds to take their businesses to the next level," said WBCS President and CEO, Debbie Hurst. "It's no secret that women-owned businesses receive less funding than their counterparts and with the mission of WBCS we hope to change that in the future. This cash award is just one piece of the resources that we offer to women looking to grow their businesses."
Since 2005, the Lillie Knox Fund has awarded over $290,000 to 58 women-owned companies. The winners are selected by a committee of previous WBCS board chairpersons and the main specification for the award is that it must be used to help grow the business. Templeton was awarded $5,000 in order to offer her leadership development and coaching services in an online format to reach women nationwide. Sandlin was awarded $8,500 to assist in the purchase of construction estimating software to provide their clients the most reliable and effective project management consulting. Sanka was awarded $15,000 towards the purchase of a bucket truck that will help her business compete with larger companies in the signage space when installing large format printed graphics and custom signs.
The Lillie Knox Fund is supported solely through WBCS member donations and many previous winners have generously donated to the fund which has allowed it to thrive. "As a donor, I was able to impact other people's businesses by contributing and then to be a recipient of that feels really good," said Molly Sandlin, a 2019 Lillie Knox Investment Award winner.
