TiE Silicon Valley, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to fostering global entrepreneurship, invites applications for the prestigious 2019 TiE50 Awards.
Now celebrating its tenth year, the TiE50 Awards provide a one-of-a-kind showcase for the world’s top technology and technology-enabled startups. TiE Silicon Valley's premier annual awards program is keenly contested by thousands of early- to mid-stage startups of all sizes representing a wide range of verticals. Applications are rigorously reviewed by a panel of judges including venture capitalists, angels, successful entrepreneurs, and corporate executives.
“For over 27 years as a not-for-profit organization dedicated to fostering entrepreneurship and with a global footprint of half million entrepreneurs, enterprise executives, and investment professionals, at TiE Silicon Valley we take pride in the fact that we have created TiE50, a strong 10-year-old brand for recognizing high potential startups,” said B.J. Arun, President, TiE Silicon Valley.
Since its inception, 84 percent of TiE50 winners and top startups have been funded at a total of over $1 billion. Many of these companies went on to acquisition or IPO with 29 of the exits at over $100 million: FireEye (IPO), Mulesoft (IPO), Pearl Therapeutics (acquired by AstraZeneca), and Velocloud (acquired by VMware).
“We were delighted and honored when Altia Systems was picked as a TiE50 winner in 2015,” said Aurangzeb Khan, CEO and co-founder of Altia Systems, which was acquired by GN Audio in March 2019 for $125 million. Altia Systems created the PanaCast real time, immersive intelligent vision systems for modern video collaboration, now being integrated into the GN Audio brand Jabra. “The TiE ecosystem and our partners contributed to our growth and scale up, now serving more than 1,600 companies and 200-plus universities around the world,” Khan added.
Nikhil Gupta, Founder and CEO of Avid Secure, a provider of AI-based cloud infrastructure security acquired in January 2019 by Sophos, a market leader in endpoint and network security said, “As a TiE50 finalist in 2018, the validation and recognition we obtained at an early stage of our company was helpful in building our brand and gaining visibility across potential investor, customer and partner audiences.”
