“Tindall’s quality control and product accuracy are exceptional. That’s why we decided to partner with them for this detail-oriented project,” said John Wallace, Director of Major Projects at Valero.

Tindall Corporation produced industrial precast columns for Valero Energy Corporation’s new coker structure project in Port Arthur, Texas. This project provided a secure solution that ensured a successful transfer of pipe rack modules within the unit.
“The Tindall team is grateful for the opportunity to expand our partnership with Valero, and to show them the power of precast, prestressed concrete,” said Brian Nami, Sales Engineer of Tindall’s Texas Division. “Tindall and Valero share the same drive and innovative spirit, and we’re honored to collaborate with another like-minded team for this project.”
The Port Arthur Delayed Coker Unit Addition marks the first time Valero used precast in a construction project. Production began onsite at Valero in June 2020 and was completed on an expedited three-week timeline, which is 80% faster than it would have been using alternate methods and resulted in a reduced number of workers on the project.
Tindall produced 50 precast columns, which were installed on drill foundations and fabricated to line up seamlessly with the module inserted on top. These columns support the steel modules, and the accurate placement of the connecting hardware was a critical component to the success of the addition and future use of the coker unit.
“Tindall’s quality control and product accuracy are exceptional. That’s why we decided to partner with them for this detail-oriented project,” said John Wallace, Director of Major Projects at Valero. “Their speed and efficiency provided significant time savings, and the project itself couldn’t have run more smoothly. Their execution and placement was simply flawless, and we look forward to working together again in the future.”
