Tinnitus 911 Recognizes Chicago Organization, A Better Life for Kids
Tinnitus 911 recognizes Shelley Reese and her efforts to improve the lives of orphaned children in Ghana. Through her foundation, A Better Life for Kids, she has provided children with access to clean water, food, housing and education.

Shelley Reese founded A Better Life for Kids with the goal of providing food, clothing, and education to children in North and Central Ghana. Through multiple projects, many donations, and 20 visits to Ghana, Shelley has been able to provide orphaned children access to education, clean drinking water, food, housing, and more. A Chicago native, Shelley Reese founded A Better Life for Kids after a summer of volunteering and teaching sign language to orphans in Ghana. During her visit, she met a child who was unable to get a lifesaving treatment for malaria. Shelley stepped in, paid for the treatment, and was shocked to learn it only costs $2. Knowing that such a small donation could go such a long way for the children in Ghana, Shelley was eager to do more. Tinnitus 911 continued, "Through donations, a team of volunteers, and multiple ongoing projects Shelley and A Better Life for Kids have made a huge difference in the lives of orphaned children in the areas of Ghana they support."
In 2016, A Better Life for Kids led the Water for Life project, where they created a well pump. The pump now provides clean drinking water for all of the villagers. The organization built a self-sustaining chicken farm through the Eggs for Kids project. The chickens provide eggs for the children to eat every day.
Tinnitus 911 concluded, "A Better Life for Kids is creating an opportunity for everyone to get involved in supporting orphaned children in Ghana. One high school raises over $80,000 every single year. The students even send videos of them saying hello to the children they help support."
Shelley and her organization continue to provide support and improve the lives of the children in Ghana. Shelley is now beginning her Homes for Kids project. The program will help kids transition from orphanages to homes.
