Titan Angel Investor and Serial Entrepreneur Steve MacDonald Earns Prestigious 'Community Dedication and Leadership Award' in 17th Annual Tampa Bay Tech Awards
Award honors member of community providing overwhelming community dedication and leadership within their role
TAMPA, Fla., Nov. 13, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Leading angel investor and serial entrepreneur Steve MacDonald, of Tampa-based MacDonald Ventures, has been announced as this year's honoree of 2020's 'Community Dedication and Leadership Award' from the 17th Annual Tampa Bay Tech Awards.
This esteemed award recognizes an individual member of the community who has committed to providing overwhelming community dedication and leadership within their role, generously giving of themselves to lead and promote technology, and through volunteerism serving to help promote resources and companies to the Tampa Bay area.
For decades MacDonald has founded, run, and sold myriad companies, with a staggering $400 million in exits alone, and a select investment portfolio of 100+ companies, primarily those focused on tech-enabled brands. He remains one of the leading angel investors in the U.S.
His last big exit was the 2017 sale of myMatrixx, a tech-enabled pharmacy benefits manager he founded, for $250 million. As he continues to nurture and mentor entrepreneurs and seeks out the next phenomenon, MacDonald has chosen to move onto the next stage in his career with the launch of MacDonald Ventures, an official angel investing platform to fund and take a select roster of startups to greater heights.
The 'Community Dedication and Leadership Award' is the only award through the program in which previous years' winners select the current year's winner.
Below is a list of prior winners by year:
2019 – Linda Olson
2018 – Tom Wallace
2017 – Tony DiBenedetto
2016 – Chris Cate
"I am grateful to Tampa Bay Tech and the greater Tampa Bay community for this recognition. It's an honor to be in such incredible company joining fellow honorees from years past," said MacDonald. "Tampa Bay remains an incubator for innovative businesses, which is one of many reasons I love living in and doing business in the city. And without the support of the city, my family, friends, and employees, I wouldn't be where I am today."
