TLC Laser Eye Centers Awards Scholarship to Students at OCCRS Meeting in San Diego
TLC Laser Eye Centers awarded three optometry students with scholarships at this year's 16th Annual Education Symposium hosted by the Optometric Cornea, Cataract, and Refractive Society (OCCRS). This is the first time TLC has awarded scholarships which are intended to support students on their journey to become doctors.
SAN DIEGO, April 23, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- As a partner of optometric education, TLC Laser Eye Centers proudly awarded three 3rd and 4th-year optometry students with the first-ever TLC Laser Refractive Excellence Scholarship at the Optometric Cornea, Cataract, and Refractive Society (OCCRS) 16th Annual Education Symposium on April 13th and 14th. Joshua Falk of Health Sciences College of Optometry at Western University, Diana Nguyen of Southern California College of Optometry at Marshall B. Ketchum University and Terynn Chan of Pacific University (not present) earned this prestigious scholarship for their demonstration of clinical excellence in laser refractive technologies.
Falk, Nguyen and Chan were selected from an elite group of optometry students for this award, each creating informational and creative video essays about what inspired their clinical interest in laser vision correction and the benefits of the procedure to patients' lives.
The TLC Laser Refractive Excellence Scholarship offers ambitious optometry students $5,000 in scholarship money, a travel stipend to attend the 2019 OCCRS meeting in San Diego, and the unique opportunity to spend a day with one of TLC's expert clinical directors at one of the TLC Laser Eye Centers.
The two scholarship recipients in attendance, Falk and Nguyen, were presented with novelty checks on stage at the conference. A TLC-affiliated doctor will visit each student's campus this spring to award them the scholarship in person.
