I wanted to make sure this event was also able to give back to an organization that supports families who are disproportionately and negatively impacted by racial injustices and COVID.
LOS ANGELES (PRWEB) September 24, 2020
theo + leigh teamed up with brands Miles and Milan and Threads 4 Thought to host a virtual Activism Family Workshop on October 18, 2020, featuring Joshua Castillo from Ask the Child Whisperer, Q&A moderated by Shennel Fuller from Miles and Milan, and hands on family activities led by Anthony Bryant from Little Nomad Shop and Arielle Goddard from ART CAMP studio.
Each participating family will receive an event box with all materials needed for an impactful morning and links to live and virtual activities. Family Event Boxes are $100 each and will include links to live and virtual activities, an event overview guide, All Are Welcome book by Alexandra Penfold, Signs of Change Art Box from ART CAMP Studio and Homegirl Café Orange and Cranberry Granola from Homeboy Foods. You can find out more information and purchase your Family Event Box at: http://bit.ly/familyactivismworkshop. For each box purchased, a back to school backpack will be donated to School on Wheels. The backpack includes a complete set of school supplies for a student entering Kindergarten through 2nd grade.
The workshop will start with a roundtable discussion for parents led by parenting coach Joshua Castillo on the importance of today’s Black Lives Matter movement and how all families can be part of the movement as helpers. Then, Anthony Bryant will lead a read along of All Are Welcome by Alexandra Penfold that gets families thinking and discussing how they can support the movement. After, break out the art supplies from the art box and create a piece of art to be used at a future protest or hung in your home or community to inspire change led by art teacher Arielle Goddard.
The theo+leigh website will also host a Workshop Marketplace. Event boxes will be for purchase at the marketplace in addition to a selection of carefully curated items from Threads 4 Thought, Miles and Milan, theo+leigh, and Little Nomad Shop. Proceeds from all items sold in the marketplace will go to School on Wheels. School on Wheels offers support and tutoring for children without homes in the Los Angeles area. The items can be purchased in our marketplace at: http://bit.ly/theoandleighmarketplace.
“I think a lot of families are wanting to be part of this movement and help create needed change. They may be looking for ways to start or ways to keep on growing. I know the families on our team and in my community definitely are. I am honored to be able to bring together a remarkable group of speakers and brands so these families can listen, learn and take action. At the same time I wanted to make sure this event was also able to give back to an organization that supports families who are disproportionately and negatively impacted by racial injustices and COVID. School on Wheels seems to be doing just that for children without homes in Southern California.” - Leigh Fleet
