Town of Seaside, Florida Escapes Damage From Hurricane Michael
SEASIDE, Fla. (PRWEB) October 12, 2018 -- The iconic town of Seaside, Florida has escaped significant damage from Hurricane Michael, according to the Homeowner’s Collection, one of the town’s leading vacation rental agencies.
“Our hearts go out to all of the folks in the Panhandle that were affected by the storm,” says Amy Wise-Coble, General Manager of Homeowner’s Collection. “Our town was lucky and received only minor damage. We’re very thankful for that.”
Seaside is located 70 miles west of Mexico Beach, Florida, where the eye of the storm made landfall, and 30 miles west of Panama City Beach. With sustained winds of 155 miles per hour, Hurricane Michael has been rated the third most powerful storm ever to hit the United States.
“We had strong winds, and lost power for over a day,” says Wise-Coble, “But power has been restored and we are operating as normal.”
The Homeowner’s Collect posted a video of Seaside after the storm through its Twitter feed at https://mobile.twitter.com/HOCOseasideFL/status/1050193214349697030. Filmed at 5 PM on October 10th, the video shows the beach, Seaside’s famous pavilion and beachfront cottages.
“We’ve received a lot of inquiries from our homeowners and guests,” says Wise-Coble. “But we are okay. Right now our thoughts and prayers go out to the people to the east of us, who’s live have been affected.”
The Homeowner’s Collection encourages people to donate to the Red Cross’ Hurricane Michael Relief Fund. The fund will help people in all states affected by the storm. Donations to the fund can be made online at https://www.redcross.org/donate/hurricane-michael-donations.html/.
