First released in 2017, the book deals with angst that result from the common experience of pain, loss, betrayal, deceit and suffering those human experiences in their daily existence. As the protagonist, Meera, discovers in her constant struggle to maintain some semblance of beauty, truth and meaning in her arduous life, one's own "Self," the "Spirit," "Soul" is the only savior that enables one to transcend life's cruelties and find peace and joy.
Further, the book describes the cultural, economic and socio-political conditions in India between the years 1950 to 1982, as well as some glimpses of pre-independent India. The immigrant experience is also portrayed, along with discussions on the complex existential and metaphysical aspects of the larger reality of existence.

Ramma Kher (her maiden name) immigrated to Canada to get her doctorate degree in biology. She worked as a scientist in different scientific institutions for many years. She was forced to quit working due to serious illnesses. Kher has always desired to write books. The "Fifth Dimension" is her first attempt at writing a novel.
