Travel and Discovery App Trover Now Available on Android
Seattle, WA (PRWEB) June 11, 2014 -- Trover (http://www.trover.com), an extraordinary social photo community for explorers, today released a new Android app now available in Google Play. Similar to its existing web and iOS app, Trover for Android makes it easy to visually explore the best of everywhere, whether around the corner or around the world. Designed for on-the-go discovery, the free app helps explorers capture beautiful places, exchange stories, share helpful tips from past journeys, and collect ideas for great places to go.
Mobile entrepreneur Jason Karas and Rich Barton, who previously helped create Expedia and Zillow, co-founded Trover after seeing how difficult it was for explorers to visually share stories about favorite hotels, restaurants, surf spots, and other cool places with friends. In Trover, they have merged geo-tagging photos and social networking in a new way, enabling travelers to connect, document place-based adventures and inspire each other.
The growing Trover community is popular among travelers, local culture hounds, and bloggers who see Trover as a more place-centric way to share their explorations compared to Facebook, Instagram or Pinterest, as well as a more visual experience than TripAdvisor or Yelp. When the app is opened, users can immediately immerse themselves into hundreds of thousands of original photos and stories from over 175 countries, see what’s hot in the community, and view the latest discoveries posted nearby. Trover’s “Jump To” feature enables users to input any address in the world and view photos around that address. Whether the location is a restaurant in a city center or a swimming hole at the base of a hidden waterfall, geo-based photo sharing makes it easy for people to find exact places and go experience them for themselves.
There is also a vibrant social community alive right behind every photo, offering members an opportunity to interact with others about their discoveries, build fun lists of places they’d like to see someday, and thank others for sharing tips and advice. To join the community, users simply log in using Facebook or an email account and start posting photos and exchanging travel stories.
“Trover is fueled by a community of people who are passionate about sharing the best things to see and do around the world,” said Jason Karas, co-founder and CEO. “Android has been the #1 request from our members, particularly from overseas. We’re excited to see all the new photos, travel stories and tips flowing through this new app, inspiring more people to get out and experience the world.”
