CHANDLER, Ariz., May 20, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Dr. Enrique N. Barreirõ, an alumnus of Trident University International's (Trident) Ph.D. in Business Administration program, will be presenting the paper, "Should I Stay, or Should I Go? Examining Occupational Culture Fit of the Manufacturing Labor Force" at the 81st Annual Meeting of the Academy of Management (AOM).
The research suggests that key drivers impacting the turnover intentions of the surveyed manufacturing workers include one's attachment to the occupation in question and the potential cost of leaving that occupation.
Personal and professional beliefs also play a role in turnover intentions. An individual holding views complimentary to his or her occupation tend to exhibit a lower rate of turnover.
"The intentions of the manufacturing professionals surveyed in my research are clear," states Dr. Barreirõ. "If they enjoy what they're doing and believe in the mission and values of the occupation, they are more likely to stay."
This research is based on Dr. Barreirõ's dissertation. The research was co-authored by Dr. Indira Guzman, Doctoral Studies Director in Trident's Glenn R. Jones College of Business. Her guidance was instrumental during AOM's manuscript submission process. Dr. Jonathan Green served as Dr. Barreirõ's dissertation chairperson.
Dr. Barreirõ is currently the Chair of the School of Graduate Studies and Director of the Master of Science in Strategic Leadership program at Central Christian College of Kansas. He is also an adjunct doctoral professor in Trident's Glenn R. Jones College of Business.
As a 10-year veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces, Dr. Barreirõ held roles in program management, operations, and logistics. He remains active in the local military community by serving as the head soccer coach at a nearby military base, which gives him the opportunity to mold the leadership skills of young servicemembers both on and off the pitch.
Dr. Barreirõ is a 2020 graduate of Trident's Ph.D. in Business Administration program, with a concentration in Management and Organizations. He earned a Dual Master of Business Administration in Healthcare Management and Project Management from American InterContinental University and a Bachelor of Science in Sports Management from Old Dominion University.
The 81st Annual Meeting of the Academy of Management will be held from July 29 – August 4, 2021.
