Available now, Trident’s Instructional Systems Specialist (ISS) certificate will provide a new pathway to the Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) program. A total of 20 credits from a successfully completed ISS certificate can be applied to the Ed.D. in Instructional Design.

Trident University International (Trident) is now offering the Instructional Systems Specialist (ISS) graduate level certificate.

Available to students with a conferred master’s degree, the ISS certificate is intended for educational leaders in the field of instruction and students in the federal occupation: 1750 (Instructional Systems Specialist). This role requires the successful completion of the 24 graduate-level credit hours offered in this certificate program.

Courses offered in the ISS certificate include Advanced Learning Theory, Applied Research in Education, Advanced Instructional Design, Instructional Technology in Education, Instructional Design Practicum, and Evidence Based Decisions in Education.

Successful completion of the ISS certificate provides a pathway into Trident’s Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Instructional Design concentration, allowing for a transfer of up to 20 credit hours into that program. Students holding a Master’s in Education may be able to transfer in an additional 8 credit hours, which is subject to program director approval.

The Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) with a concentration in Instructional Design is a practitioner-focused program intended for students currently holding, or aspiring to, leadership positions in a military or civilian training program as an instructional systems specialist or instructional designer.

Those studying in this program will have the opportunity to master the conceptual/theoretical, attitudinal, and operational skills needed to make a positive impact on educational systems. Successful graduates will develop the skillset necessary to operate as a scholar-practitioner with the completion of a doctoral study project.

Courses offered in this concentration include Advanced Learning Theory, Advanced Instructional Design, Instructional Technology in Education, and Instructional Design Practicum.

Other concentrations available in the Ed.D. program include Higher Education Leadership and PK-12 Leadership.
