New York, NY (PRWEB) July 10, 2014 -- For the past few months TroopTree.com has thwarted numerous attacks from what they have determined to be Russian hackers on its website. The attacks started roughly around the same time the relationship between the governments of the United States and Russia started to deteriorate and culminated yesterday with a massive DoS attack on TroopTree’s servers.
TroopTree.com is a popular online communication platform used by U.S. military members to communicate via private video messages with their friends and family back home. Jon Loew, CEO and founder of the KeepTree.com private video messaging platform launched TroopTree.com in late 2011 as a free service for all military members and their family as a show of support for the U.S. military.
At no time did the recent, or any previous hacking attempts breach TroopTree user data or video vault. Service was temporarily interrupted while a DoS, “denial of service” attack was attempted but was quickly restored. Both KeepTree and TroopTree were designed and built with security as a cornerstone for both platforms. Technology vulnerabilities and the continued increase in the amount of personal data stored online has made security and privacy a top priority for all companies and individuals with an online presence.
TroopTree has been working directly with the FBI Cyber and Special Operations unit to help identify and apprehend the source of the malicious activity.
