Tru Ops, a PCMS Program, Hosts Grand Opening of its Opportunity Center
Tru Ops (True Opportunities), a Potomac Case Management program, will celebrate the grand opening for its Opportunity Center located at 324 East Antietam Street, Suite 106 A in Hagerstown, MD on June 14, 2019.
HAGERSTOWN, Md., June 10, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Tru Ops (True Opportunities), a Potomac Case Management program, will celebrate the grand opening for its Opportunity Center located at 324 East Antietam Street, Suite 106 A in Hagerstown, MD on June 14, 2019.
The grand opening is open to the public and will kick off with a grand tour of the opportunity center facilities hosted by PCMS beginning at 3 pm. Directly following, Tru Ops will offer food, vendor tables, a rock wall, and an interactive obstacle course, wrapping up with grand prize bike giveaways, (two male and two female bikes.) To be eligible to win a bike, you must be 18-24-years old and be present at the time of the drawing.
The PCMS Tru Ops Opportunity Center is a safe space that welcomes 18-24-year-old individuals who are not currently engaged in employment or an educational setting in the Washington County area. Youth will visit Tru Ops to receive case management guidance and support that will help them get back on the path to a productive life. Case managers will assist these youth with GED classes, financial literacy, soft skills workshops, resume building, interviewing, job searching, year-round work experience, and secondary education.
Young adults will also be connected to other resources as crisis management, medical and mental health services, food, and transportation.
PCMS Executive Director, Dawn Johns, said, "Washington County is fortunate to have received this funding through the Governor's Office of Children and Washington County Local Management Board. It will be used as a starting point for 18-24-year-olds who choose to become involved. Sometimes, taking that first step into Adulting can be overwhelming. Along with Valor Training Center and our community partners, PCMS staff will be able to introduce and support them as they explore real opportunities for their futures. True Ops will allow them to grow in ways that might not have been real options until this point. Washington County needs the talent and work abilities that each of these individuals have to offer. True Ops has been designed to be the bridge to link the two together. PCMS and Valor Training Center are excited to be a part of this initiative and seeing real results come from it."
Tru Ops was made possible through support from the Governor's Office for Children, the Washington County Local Management Board and the Washington County Commissioners.
