DENVER, July 19, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- True Path Realty, LLC Broker/Owner Martin Bengston transitioned to working with the senior community when a family member started to have issues selling their home and searching for senior living communities.
"It became quite eye-opening, the challenges that are faced by a senior when they are looking at their next step in life," said Bengston, one of Denver's most successful real estate professionals.
To help seniors sell their homes and transition to another stage in life, Bengston lists the following five questions:
No. 1: Where do you want to be? It is imperative to find a community that will best fit their needs, including the budget. "The next step is to find out what the availability is to get into that community," stated Bengston. "Fear is a common thing with seniors when they are getting ready to sell their home that they have grown attached to over the years. It is really important as far as the process to get their family involved. So if they have kids or grandkids it's important to get them involved because no one likes change."
No. 2: How do you plan for that next step in life? This includes reaching out to the family and talk to them first or for others, they may not want their family involved and impede in what they want to do in life.
No. 3: How to talk to the senior? "I inform them that our meeting could be one to two hours long, especially for a senior who has been living alone. They oftentimes don't have anyone to talk to," stated Bengston. "Seniors like to tell their story. They want someone that they can just talk to."
No. 4: How do you identify their needs and wants? Everybody is a little bit different, but the process is pretty much the same. "Getting to know them and building a rapport is essential," noted Bengston.
No. 5: Should I make arrangements to go see the facilities? "I work with some community senior living homes directly, and others that I don't work directly with I will go through services that they are contracted with," concluded Bengston.
