TTi Global President/CEO Lori Blaker Announces Metro Detroit Friends of US Committee for UN Women on United Nations Day
Rochester Hills, MI (PRWEB) October 24, 2013 -- The Metro Detroit Friends will support the efforts of The US National Committee by through advocacy, education and fundraising. The US National Committee (USNC) for UN Women is an independent non-profit, 501c3 organization that supports the mission of UN Women and social, political, and economic equality for women and girls around the world.
“The formation of the Metro Detroit Friends provides a tremendous opportunity to join in this global effort to advance and empower women around the world. We are happy to announce the launch on United Nations Day,” states Blaker. Members and supporters are men, women, and children in cities around the country who give their time and resources to support a world where women of all ages have access to education and employment opportunities, and sustainable livelihoods that enable them to live free of gender-based violence.
The group will host various events throughout the year and will advocate for global women’s issues and UN Women in communities around the country. The group will also work to support legislation on global women’s issues, especially on leadership, economic participation and ending violence against women.
