Houston, Texas (PRWEB) July 19, 2016 -- Renewable clean energy has been a hot topic since the Ottawa Summit in July of this year, when President Obama along with leaders from Mexico and Canada pledged to get half their power from clean energy by 2025, as reported by Time magazine.
Zphere Works, a Mexican company, is launching a project in the Yucatan of Mexico to produce 30 million gallons annually of BioJet and BioDiesel fuel. The team believes every gallon will be contracted before it is produced.
Turf Feeding Systems, a Houston company, will be assisting with the endeavor.

Jack Katz, the CEO of Zphere Works, has a target to produce 30 million gallons of biofuel annually and interviewed agriculture growers around the world to grow Jatropha, the crop which will produce BioFuel. Katz stated, “They only I wanted to know was ‘how much land will be developed’ and, ‘what is your budget’, until I talked to Michael Chaplinsky, the President of Turf Feeding Systems in Houston.”
Chaplinsky talked about new ways to grow crops focused on plant and soil health working together. He stated, “We will create happy soil and plants that use 50% less water, fertilizer and little or no chemicals, while producing 50% more production.”
He shares, “We can grow more Jatropha on less land at a lower cost, which means you will need less land, less irrigation, less labor and the efficiency and savings will get better each year. We will create and start the soil engine to grow plants.”
Katz’s new vision with Chaplinsky is to create the first truly sustainable project that embraces to most productive agriculture technologies, soil health and water efficiency and uses the least amount of land.
The Team:
Chaplinsky has formed an outstanding team of agronomists, scientists, engineers, plant geneticists, arborists and soil biologists from around the world. These experts bring over 120 years of experience, technologies and passion to the project.
Paul van Jaarsvelt, one team member, is a leading agronomist, grower and livestock expert from South Africa. His expertise is crop design and management, as well as irrigation. He brought a new irrigation system that is less cost, more efficient and faster to install. He also brings inter-cropping, satellite pastures and livestock into the project to create additional profit centers.
Chaplinsky states, the team includes experts in soil biology and soil inoculants. The plantation will include a facility to brew special soil treatment products (biology) to feed the soil engine. This will reduce imports and costs.
Water in the Yucatan is plentiful; however it will need to be treated for sodium by another technology with a special water treatment system. This system reduces sodium, makes water more efficient and does not use any chemicals.
The project will bring together new products and technologies integrated for the first time.
Chaplinsky states, “we want the project to become the first totally sustainable project in Mexico. It will include education and career development for the rural Mayan people and create the site as a habitat sanctuary.” For this reason, Chaplinsky has included Ron Dodson as an advisor for education, habitat and humanities.
Dodson is President of The Dodson Group, LLC, and formerly Northeast Regional Vice-President of the National Audubon Society and President and CEO of Audubon International, from which he retired after 25 years of service in 2013.
Chaplinsky and Dodson are planning to dedicate 5% of the land as habitat pockets of protected native forests and grassland. Katz totally endorses this and wants to support a program to protect and repopulate Yucatan endangered species, especially the native Mayan honeybee.
Katz and Chaplinsky agree this project will be the most efficient BioFuel project as well as dedicated to become the first sustainable agriculture project in Mexico.
Katz states, “It will be successful because it is the right thing to do in Mexico for the Yucatan.”
