SANTA BARBARA, Calif., Jan. 22, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- TV Santa Barbara's 2019 Media Awards on February 23 from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the historic Alcazar Theatre will be a celebration of TV Santa Barbara's (TVSB) 45-year history of community access media in Southern Santa Barbara County.
TVSB's Media Awards recognize achievements by the creators of the outstanding multimedia content distributed on TVSB's broadcast and online platforms. Awards will be presented for Best New Show, Lifetime Achievement, Special Event Coverage, Community Impact, and much more. This gala evening at the Alcazar Theatre in Carpinteria will include a retrospective with Ira Opper, the TV pioneer who brought action sports to ESPN and founded community access television in Santa Barbara in 1974.

The Awards Gala, hosted by John Palminteri, will also feature musical performances by Glen Phillips, Jackson Gillies and Kimba Madsen. Mr. Phillips Glen is best known as the singer and songwriter of the alternative rock group Toad the Wet Sprocket. The evening will feature a red carpet VIP reception with hors d'oeuvres, beer, wine, and a signature cocktail along with a silent auction and special after party.
