Two Experienced Endocrine Providers Join Growing Wisconsin-Based Clinic

APPLETON, Wis., Aug. 29, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Fox Valley Surgical Associates (FVSA) of Appleton, Wisconsin, is excited to announce that it will be expanding its endocrine department with the addition of two experienced providers. Iftikhar Malik, MD, FACE, ECNU, and Christine Arendt, APNP, will be joining FVSA on September 16.

Pioneering the way toward advanced endocrine care in the Fox Cities since he began practicing in the area in 2010, Dr. Malik is board-certified in endocrinology and treats complex conditions ranging from diabetes and thyroid disorders to issues of the lymph nodes. In his prior practice, Dr. Malik's combined collaborative work as an endocrinologist and multi-specialty background led to the successful implementation of an endocrinology department and the creation of standard protocols for both inpatient and outpatient diabetes care. It also resulted in more complex labs and testing – like mapping and fine needle aspiration (FNA) of the thyroid and other nodules – being offered locally instead of more exclusively at university centers. Dr. Malik has continued to be an advocate for enhanced education efforts related to endocrine care on the patient and provider side, too.

Starting his studies in Pakistan, Dr. Malik earned his medical degree at Punjab Medical College and received residency training in pulmonary medicine at DHQ Hospital. He completed a residency program in internal medicine and also served as the chief medical resident at New York-based Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center. Dr. Malik is fellowship-trained in endocrinology through the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee and he recently earned his endocrine certification in neck ultrasonography (ECNU). He is a fellow with the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (FACE).

Dr. Malik has served as an endocrinologist and clinical medical director of endocrinology as well as a managing director and physician, hospitalist and internist. "My approach to care is a blend of traditional and modern medicine," Dr. Malik explained. "I understand that a new diagnosis of a condition like diabetes or thyroid cancer can be devastating, and I want to give patients and their families as much information and guidance as possible."

Christine Arendt also brings years of endocrinology experience to her new role as a nurse practitioner at FVSA. She values open, honest relationships with her patients and enjoys working with them to set goals and identify the best plan of care. "If a treatment plan isn't working, criticism won't be the approach I take," Arendt said. "Instead, we'll discuss what went wrong and work together to find a plan that's a better fit."

Arendt graduated from Fox Valley Technical College and Marian College with her associate's and bachelor's degrees in nursing. She went on to receive a master's degree in nursing from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.

Dr. Malik and Christine Arendt will start accepting appointments in October, joining Dr. Janeil Mitchell at FVSA's Encircle Health location in Appleton to provide patients with the most comprehensive endocrinology care. The team will treat everything from diabetes and thyroid conditions to adrenal, pituitary and metabolic bone disease issues.

FVSA continues to grow its clinic with the addition of these two endocrine-focused providers after recently welcoming Jason Le, MD, to its team. Dr. Le specializes in vascular care.
