Two Painters from the Southern Highlands at All We Art
Washington, D.C. (PRWEB) February 17, 2015 -- All We Art is pleased to announce their second exhibition of 2015, Two Painters from the Southern Highlands, featuring artists Fabricio Lara and José Bayro, opening Thursday, February 26, 2015, with a public reception from 6:00-9:00pm. The exhibition will run through March 26, 2015 and include an artist talk and two special events.
The work of Bolivian artist Fabricio Lara started his career as an artist in the 1990’s. He follows in the footsteps of his father, Gustavo Lara Torres, and uncle Raúl Lara Torres. Lara focuses on the myths, customs, and beliefs of his ancestors and translates them to expressive, gestural and yet slightly figurative compositions. His work shares the symbology of the Andean culture of his native Bolivia, often incorporating cave like imagery of condors, bulls and horses in bold colors.
Lara’s drawings will be exhibited in parallel with those of José Bayro, a painter with the desire to express a narrative in his own reality. Bayro creates a world where reality blends with an alternate universe. His works are a scene that seemingly portrays a familiar thought, story or occurrence, but he alters the image to create a new truth. Carlos Monsiváis writes of Bayro’s work that “we are shaped by what we see and, also, in great measure, by what we continue looking at; not the repetition but the re-creation of a point of view.”
Through Two Painters from the Southern Highlands, All We Art hopes to further their mission to serve as a multidisciplinary space dedicating to promoting international cultural exchange through exhibitions, cultural programs and related services.
