Two Veteran Workers' Compensation Attorneys Join Pond Lehocky
Pond Lehocky Stern Giordano welcomes Erica M. Wicas and Eric J. Stark as workers' compensation associates.
PHILADELPHIA, March 19, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Pond Lehocky Stern Giordano welcomes Erica M. Wicas and Eric J. Stark as workers' compensation associates.
Both attorneys have experience on the defense side of workers' compensation matters. Their extensive knowledge of how employers and insurers handle claims make them uniquely qualified to now focus on protecting workers' rights.
Prior to joining Pond Lehocky, Ms. Wicas was an associate in the Philadelphia office of a large regional defense firm, representing employers and insurance carriers in workers' compensation matters.
She earned a J.D. from Rutgers School of Law in 2013 and a B.A. in English from the University of Pennsylvania in 2010. While attending law school, she was a research team member of the Pro Bono Research Project. In addition, she interned at the Alaska Department of Law, Attorney General's Office, in the Torts and Workers' Compensation Section. She also interned for the Honorable Michael Spaan of the Alaska Superior Court.
She is a member of the American Bar Association and has been selected to serve as the Social Media and Technology Vice-Chair of the ABA Tort Trial and Insurance Section's Workers' Compensation Committee. She is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
Ms. Wicas will work out of Pond Lehocky's Center City Philadelphia headquarters.
Mr. Stark comes to Pond Lehocky from a large regional defense firm in Harrisburg, where he was a partner. Since 2005, he has represented employers and insurers in workers' compensation and employment law matters. He has litigated workers' compensation matters from the initial claim stage all the way through the Pennsylvania Supreme Court.
Mr. Stark received his B.A. from Elizabethtown College in 2002 and his J.D. in 2005 from Widener University School of Law, where he was a member of Law Review and the Moot Court Honor Society.
Mr. Stark has been a regular instructor at the Carlisle Army Barracks' Boots to Business program. He has also spoken many times for the First Step Entrepreneur program through the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at Kutztown University.
Mr. Stark is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania.
He serves on the Board of Directors for Cornerstone Youth Center in Elizabethtown, where he is also active in the community as a youth baseball coach. He has also served as a volunteer men's basketball announcer for D3hoops.com, having served as the play-by-play announcer for the 2002 Division III Men's basketball Final Four.
Mr. Stark will cover the Central Pennsylvania region for the firm.
Pond Lehocky Stern Giordano opened its doors in July 2010 with six attorneys and only 22 total staff members. Today, it is the largest workers' compensation and Social Security disability law firm in the region, boasting 12 office locations with more than 40 attorneys and 200 staff members. The firm opened its Pittsburgh location in 2016 and has also recently expanded into new practice areas for workers, including employment law and long-term disability.
