JACKSON, Mo., Nov. 18, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Tyson Zahner, creator of Attract 100 Leads in 30 Days, recently applauded the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption as the non-profit reached 1,000 adoptions in Ohio. The foundation, which is widely renowned for its Wendy's Wonderful Kids program, has every reason to celebrate this milestone--particularly since this month is National Adoption Awareness Month.
The Foundation, based in Columbus, Ohio, is the only public non-profit charity in the United States whose sole focus is on finding permanent homes for children. The Foundation is especially focused on children who have been in foster care for long periods and might be difficult to place. These include children, teenagers, and siblings with special needs. It is particularly appropriate that the Foundation reached this milestone in Ohio, where it first implemented a fully expanded statewide program. There are now 56 of Wendy's Wonderful Kids recruiters working statewide.
The celebration of this milestone is an important one for the Foundation. And yet there are more than 125,000 children still waiting in foster care in the United States. Worryingly, more than 20,000 teens age out of foster care every year, becoming at risk of homelessness and other negative outcomes. As the Foundation's founder, Dave Thomas, once said, "These children are not someone else's responsibility. They are our responsibility."
Through its signature program, Wendy's Wonderful Kids, the Foundation provides grants to adoption agencies in order to hire recruiters. These recruiters work with an evidence-based, child-focused recruitment model to help find loving, permanent homes for children currently waiting in foster care. They also work closely with child welfare advocates and policymakers.
November is National Adoption Month, and the Foundation is using the occasion to encourage others to help it achieve its mission. There are many ways you can help the Foundation. Consider donating in honor of someone, giving a planned gift, donating stock, buying from the charity's shop, or planning an event to fundraise for the charity.
The Foundation also raises awareness through social media campaigns, public service announcements, and events. Its vision is to dramatically increase the number of adoptions of children currently waiting in the U.S. foster care system. Its mission is to give every child a permanent home and a loving family.
In 1990, Dave Thomas, the founder of Wendy's Wonderful Kids Program, accepted President George H.W. Bush's invitation to be the spokesperson for a national adoption awareness campaign. Two years later, Thomas established the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption. In 1997, he testified before Congress in support of an adoption tax credit that aimed to make adoption more affordable. His testimony was just one of the many ways he tirelessly worked to promote the cause. Sadly, Dave passed away in 2002--but the Foundation continues his work by finding permanent families for children in foster care.
Zahner concluded his celebration of the Foundation's achievement by saying, "Every child deserves a loving family of their own." He hopes to shine a light on adoption during the month of November in honor of National Adoption Awareness Month. Zahner himself was adopted at birth, and later had the fortune of adopting his own wonderful son. The Attraction Marketing Specialist, a lifelong advocate of adoption, is on a mission to bring support to all children who are now living without a permanent home and family.
