U.S. Secretary of Energy Rick Perry Spotlights Texas Travel in #WhatILikeAboutTexas Campaign
Austin, TX (PRWEB) June 19, 2017 -- U.S. Secretary of Energy Rick Perry is lending his voice to the #WhatILikeAboutTexas campaign with a new video. The campaign, spearheaded by the Texas Travel Industry Association (TTIA) and inspired by Gary P. Nunn’s famous song “What I Like About Texas,” is intended to encourage Texans to share their favorite things about the state by highlighting diverse individual moments and memories that remind people why the Lone Star State offers a uniquely welcoming visitor experience.
The video, filmed at the Round Top Festival Institute in Round Top, Texas, highlights the former governor’s love for music and small-town Texas.
“What do I like about Texas?” Perry said, accompanied by Nunn playing a grand piano. “You don’t have to live in one of the biggest cities to hear some of the most extraordinary music. See some of the most extraordinary cultural arts rights here in my hometown of Round Top, Texas: a-thousand-and-one-seats symphony hall. You’ll also find some of the friendliest people, and you might even find some pretty good barbecue.”
The video, which can be viewed at http://www.whatilikeabouttexas.org, is part of a series of videos with notable Texans from all walks of life sharing their favorite things about the state from food and music to their favorite travel spots. Houston soul musician Kam Franklin recorded a video highlighting how Texas barbecue is “good for the soul.” That video can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C0dyRhw9E6o
“We want people to do a little braggin’,” explained TTIA President David Teel. “After all, it ain’t bragging if it’s true, and one thing that’s true is that Texas is a great place to visit and do business. As the song says, it’s the spirit of the people down here who share this land."
The campaign launched on May 26 with a “What I Like About Texas” sing-a-long led by Gary P. Nunn at the Texas State Capitol to kick off the summer travel season. In addition to TTIA, major campaign partners include Visit Houston, Visit San Antonio, Discover Denton, Port Royal Ocean Resort & Conference Center, The Arlington Convention & Visitors Bureau and Visit Lubbock.
