U.S. States Increase Solar Capacity, Green Solar Technologies Founder Comments
Nicki Zvik shares his thoughts on increasing solar capacity in the U.S.
LOS ANGELES, April 29, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Solar energy is trending strongly in cities and states all across the U.S. According to the Environment America Research and Policy Center, 45 out of 57 of the nation's largest cities have doubled their solar capacity over the last six years. The report by the non-profit also indicates that some U.S. cities like Seattle and Dallas have even quadrupled their capacity in this timeframe.
Nicki Zvik, Founder of Green Solar Technologies, a solar company based in Southern California, commenting on this trend states, "We see solar investment growing all around us. California, in particular, has made extraordinary strides in the last few years It has set a goal to convert its electricity to 100% renewable, primarily from solar energy, by 2045. It's incredible to see the commitments to clean energy that California and the rest of the U.S. are making."
California is certainly a leader in the green energy movement, as cities like Los Angeles and San Diego rank in the top spots for total solar capacity installed (with a total of 420 megawatts installed in LA alone). But other states like Hawaii are also following suit. The capital of Hawaii, Honolulu, boasts 646 watts per resident, and Hawaii is well on its way to reaching its goal of 100% renewable energy by 2045..
Other notable U.S. cities making an impact with their megawatt solar capacity include Washington D.C., San Antonio, Texas, and Las Vegas, Nevada, Boston, Massachusetts and Phoenix, Arizona just to name a few. Cities like these prove that while "sunnier" cities may be known for their commitment to solar energy, cities with diverse seasons are not to be discounted.
"While the solar industry thrives in places like California, Hawaii, Arizona, and so on, that's not to say that solar can't play a significant role in the Northeast and Midwest regions of the U.S.," notes Zvik, "Green Solar Technologies is a nationwide solar company for a reason. We install in many places where clouds, rain, and cold weather are prominent, but our customers in those areas also see impressive results."
It's clear to see that cities and states are increasing solar energy production across the U.S., so we might ask, "Why is solar so attractive?" The answer is that, unlike fossil fuels, solar energy is clean, abundant, and renewable. To this end, a widespread green energy movement is propelling solar energy and other renewable energy sources to the forefront of America's efforts to provide a healthier environment with a sustainable energy future.
"We see the damage that's being done to our environment daily. Some things like water and land pollution are easy to recognize because we can clearly witness the effects, and it's great to see people adjust their everyday habits to reverse these effects. But air pollution isn't always as apparent, even though its effects may be the most harmful to the environment. With climate change and a fragile ozone layer, it's essential that we modify our means of generating power. Solar is the most effective and efficient way to produce clean energy. As solar technology continues to advance and awareness of solar's benefits grows, a healthier environment and more prosperous economy are bound to follow," states Nicki Zvik.
